5 students in Adamson University stabbing case face raps, says exec

MANILA, Philippines—The five suspects in the stabbing incident at the Adamson University campus in Manila last Wednesday are now facing school administrative charges, even as one of them has been placed under police custody, the university president said Monday.

In a statement, Fr. Gregorio Bañaga Jr. said the university aided police investigation by furnishing them a copy of the administrative investigation report.

He added that the victim, 21-year-old Kevin Roy Castro, was given immediate medical attention for stab wounds in the left hand and fingers and is now out of the hospital. Adamson shouldered the medical expenses.

Bañaga said the stabbing incident was an isolated case and that the school community is generally peaceful and safe, with adequate security measures firmly in place.

“It is unfortunate, however, that a minority allegedly belonging to rival fraternities can cause trouble … and give the university a bad name it doesn’t deserve,” Bañaga said.
