MANILA, Philippines—Just like Ako Bicol lawmakers who were first among incumbent party-list groups to be axed by the Commission on Elections, disqualified 1-CARE Partylist on Monday said it would also seek the Supreme Court’s intervention in their case.
1 CARE Partylist Representative Michael Angelo Rivera vowed to file an appeal at the high tribunal, questioning their disqualification when they believed that they represented a marginalized sector. He said that 1 CARE represents the interests of electricity consumers in rural areas.
“Ito po ba yung tinatawag na hindi marginalized, yung mga nasa bundok na hindi naaabot ng kuryente?” he said, pointing out that one of their major accomplishments was bringing electricity to far-flung areas. Rivera said that their worries were about the projects they started but would be unable to finish because of their disqualification.
He denied that 1 CARE represented electric cooperatives.
