M’daue vendors given closure orders

THE Mandaue City government will close at least 619 stalls after their owners failed to process the requirements to acquire or use the stalls at the new Mandaue public market in sitio Tribunal, barangay Centro.

The Mandaue City government issued “Notice of Closure” last Monday.

Buddy Alain Ybañez, city legal administrative officer, said the vendors would still have 10 days upon receiving the closure order to finish their paperwork.

Reminders were issued by the Mandaue Public Market authority  for stall owners to meet a  May 31 deadline.

Demand letters were sent out but many stall owners still didn’t comply, prompting the issuance of the closure order.

The moratorium on market rental payments doesn’t apply to those who didn’t process their papersm, said City Legal Officer Giovanni Tianero.

“These requirements will bind them just in case when the moratorium ends and they would withdraw from renting the stalls,” said Tianero./Correspondent Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
