2 teens arrested in robbery and killing of QC village exec

MANILA, Philippines – Two teenaged boys, one of them a minor, were arrested for allegedly robbing and killing a barangay (village) official inside his own home in Quezon City.

To be charged with robbery and homicide for the killing of councilor Joven Laurora  of Kaingin 1, Block 7 in Barangay Pansol are Jeffrey Lignes, 19, of Barangay Pansol and a 16-year-old high school student.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero  Laurora, 41, was already dead when neighbors responding to his shouts for help  reached him at around 1:30 a.m. inside his home. He suffered a slash in the neck, a stab wound in the chest and more stab wounds in the back.

Some of his neighbors heard shouts for help coming from the victim’s house, prompting them rush to the house to help the victim.

Five male neighbors saw someone inside Laurora’s room wielding a flashflight. The residents then asked help from a policeman in the neighborhood.

Some of the residents who stayed behind then saw the two boys carrying a backpack and running to a motorcycle parked near a basketball court. They ran after the two and took them to the police.

Tejerero said he learned that the two were frequent visitors to Laurora’s home.

He said a screw driver was found in Lignes’ pocket which police believe to have been used in killing the barangay councilman. Also recovered were some of Laurora’s personal effects, including an Acer laptop worth P30,000; an IPhone 4s valued at P40,000; Samsung Corby worth P7,000; leather shoes; a checkered Jansport backpack; and a wallet with credit cards, ATM cards, and Laurora’s barangay ID.
