Engineers Fiesta Cup football tourney opens

THE 3rd Engineers Fiesta Cup Invitational Football Tournament will kickoff today at the San Roque football field in Mandaue City.

Matches to be played today will be those in the players Under 6, U8, U10 and boys U12 categories.

Around 20 teams will be slugging it out for boys U12 title, eight for players 6, 12 for players 8 and 20 for players U10.

The tournament will follow a festival-type format with the players U6 and U8 to play for 10 minutes straight and the players U10 and boys U12 playing six minutes each half. The rest of the categories will be playing seven minutes per half.

Categories with one group will follow a single round-robin during the eliminations with the top two advancing to the finals. The category with more than one group will have each group playing in a single-round robin during the eliminations. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
