EX-COP FOUND DEAD

A RETIRED policeman was found dead in his rented apartment in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

The decomposing body of Gaudencio Fernandez, 72, was found past 7 a.m. yesterday. Fernandez had the rank of senior police officer 2 when he retired from the police force.

The former policeman lived alone in an apartment in Muaña Compound, sitio San Roque.

Mona Lisa Mercader, caretaker of the apartment, told police that they haven’t seen the police for more than a week.

The caretaker said she and some neighbors decided to check on the former policeman because of foul odor and a swarm of flies coming out of the room.

In barangay Opao, Mandaue City, a 65-year-old scavenger was found lifeless in a makeshift tent around 6 a.m. last Thursday.

The smell of decay led to the discovery of Celestino Jugasan.

Police said it was Jugasan’s 50-year-old brother Pedro who found the body.

VENDOR NABBED FOR DRUGS

A BANANA cue vendor was arrested in an alleged illegal drug buy-bust operation in barangay Poblacion, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Manuel Taneo, 27, was arrested after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a poseur buyer ast 7 p.m. last Thursday.

Supt. Rodolfo Calope Albotra Jr. said they’ve been receiving reports that Taneo had been openly selling drugs in the barangay. Police said Taneo’s is currently detained at the Danao police station for selling illegal drugs..
