MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections urged Filipino voters Friday to kick the mañana habit and register for the 2013 elections before the October 31 deadline.

Comelec Chair Sixto Brillantes Jr. said the Comelec has no plans to extend the registration period for voters since it already needed to complete preparations for the upcoming midterm balloting.

“There will be no extension after October  31 as we already need to finalize the number of ballots to be printed, among others,”  Brillantes announced through his Twitter account.

He said the deadline for the transfer of registration, the validation and reactivation of registration is also on October 31.

“Let us do away with the culture of registering at the last moment. Go to the nearest Comelec office now,” added Brillantes.
