California, Beer Gin win
THE California cagers led by playing coach Rodi Cabigas nipped favored Alcords, 98-95, in overtime Thursday night to even its standing at 1-1 while Beer Gin beat Vintage-White, 76-65, in the 2011 Vintage Basketball Club First Conference basketball tournament at the Po-oc Sports Complex in Talisay City.
Alcords led by six, 5l-45 after two quarters but California responded with a 25-12 rally to take a, 68-63 advantage heading into the final quarter. The former however, tied the count at the end of regulation at 83-all on Roy Jumag’s follow-up shot.
But Califiornia proved steadier in the extra period where it outscored Alcords, 15-12 for the three-point victory.
Roy Jumag and Ray Alvarado led California with 25 and 21 points, respectively while Alcords was paced by the 30 points of Ricboy Nacario.
Earlier, Beer Gin of Flor Yosores thrashed Vintage-White, 76-65, to even its standing at 1-1.
Beer Gin led from start to finish for the 11-point victory.
