Typhoon ‘Nina’ to leave PH on Sunday

MANILA, Philippines—Typhoon “Nina” was seen to leave the Philippine territory Sunday as it moved northwest slowly, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

Nina was last seen 790 kilometers east of Calayan Island in Cagayan, with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said.

The typhoon was moving northwest and forecast to be 820 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes by Sunday morning.

It will continue to bring heavy to intense rains within 700 km diameters.

Fishing boats and other small vessels were advised not to venture out into the northern and western seaboard of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.
