MANILA, Philippines—Senator Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos saw no “imminent” need for Senate leadership change despite persistent talks of a plot to unseat Senate President Juan Ponce.
“I don’t think that the change is imminent,” Marcos told reporters on Thursday.
“Right now, I think that, we in the leadership, we are doing alright. We’re doing okay,” he said.
Except for Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who has openly expressed his dissatisfaction over Enrile’s leadership, Marcos said he did not know of any other colleagues who are also displeased with the Senate leader.
Trillanes and Marcos are both members of the Nacionalista Party being headed by Senator Manny Villar.
“Everyone has something that did not go their way—whether or not they blame it on the leadership is different. But of course we’d all like for things to go as we want them and that doesn’t necessarily happen,” he said.
