MANILA, Philippines—Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, who was widely criticized for proposing online libel in the cybercrime law, is now considering resigning from his post as Senate Majority Leader.
“(I am) contemplating,” Sotto told reporters on Wednesday.
“But if you are going to ask me for a percentage percentage, it’s 80-20, 80 towards resignation by July,” he said.
Sotto lamented that it was difficult to be in his place because he has to please everyone.
And most of the times, he said, he always got the blame.
“It’s not worth the stress that I’m getting,” Sotto said.
“Mahirap makisama,” he added.
Sotto said he would prefer to be a regular senator than keep his post.
Before this, Sotto lamented how he always got caught in the middle, citing as example how he received the flak for initiating online libel in the cybercrime law.
Sotto also took the limelight for allegedly plagiarizing parts of his speeches twice.
