Man wanted for murder nabbed in Mandaue disco

A MAN wanted for murder was arrested for drunken behavior in a benefit dance in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.

Benjur Dela Cruz, 30, was also accused of punching a policeman who tried to arrest him last Monday afternoon.

Police said dela Cruz stirred up trouble in a disco around 3 a.m.

Policemen, led by PO1 Jerry Pamadora, responded to the trouble alarm.

Pamadora was about to handcuff the man when he was boxed in the face.

Dela Cruz tried to run but was stopped by other policemen.

The man introduced himself as Gerry dela Cruz during the arrest.

Senior Insp. Wilson Abot, chief of the Basak police, said they later learned that the man was wanted for a murder case in Medellin town, northern Cebu.

Basak police coordinated with their counterparts in Medellin and learned that an arrest warrant was issued against dela Cruz by Regional Trial Court Judge Antonio Marigomen of Branch 61 in Bogo City.

The warrant was issued on August 2005./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
