ROTC cadets, Army reservists join cleanup

RESERVED Officers Training Corps cadets from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, together with Army Reservists from Alpha Battery, 1901st RR Brigade led by Lt. Col. Guy Gabison III, joined the Environment Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7) in the clean-up of Butuanon River in barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City last Sept. 22.

The river cleanup was part of the “Adopt-an-Estero” program that was simultaneously held from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Tipolo Creek and Jagobiao creek in Mandaue City, Hipodromo creek in Cebu City, Luknay creek in San Fernando town, Guindarohan river in Naga City and Pilipog-Gabi River in Lapu-Lapu City.

Local government units, private stakeholders, schools, national government agencies and non-government organizations also joined the activity.

The month of September was declared by former president Fidel V. Ramos as the National Clean-Up Month.
