BOYSEN LEANED on an explosive second-period showing to hand Unitec its first loss in the United Architects Basketball Club Third Corporate Cup, 71-67, last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Michael Cinco was once again the main man for the winning team as he punched in 34 points, which helped Boysen tie its victims at the end of the first round of eliminations. The two squads hold similar 4-1 (win-loss) records.
The game was tight after the first period with Unitec even leading by a point, 20-19. But Boysen found its groove in the ensuing canto and outscored its opponents by 15 to lead, 45-31.
The lead ballooned to 19 heading to the fourth before Unitec staged a brief rally, which ultimately came up short.
In the second game, Durabend eked out a 77-76 victory over Puyat Steel. Matimco also snapped its 19-game losing streak dating to last year after beating Cebu Homes, 70-61./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
