A businessman fell to his death on Tuesday morning after he tried to reach out for his clothes hanging out to dry on a line outside his room in a five-story building in Quezon City.
Salacnib Douglas Dichoso’s body was found on the pavement along the Smile Citihomes condominium complex in Barangay (village) Kaligayahan.
A woman living in one of the buildings across Dichoso’s room told police she saw the victim with no clothes on trying to retrieve his garments from the clothesline.
The victim apparently reached too far and thus lost his footing, falling to his death four floors below.
Dichoso died instantly of severe head injuries from the impact of the fall on the concrete floor below, according to Senior Police Officer 1 Joselito Gagaza.
The victim owned a room on the fourth floor of one of the buildings, while a sister owned the adjacent room, the policeman added.
Dichoso’s sister, Mary Grace, was not at home at the time of the accident.
Quoting an account of Mary Grace, the police officer said the siblings, including Dichoso, talked about their financial problems on Monday night.
That was the last time the siblings heard from him, they said.
Asked if the fall was possibly a suicide, Gagaza said the fall was more likely to be an accident as some witnesses saw the victim slip and fall.
Police, however, are still conducting an investigation into the incident as no motive has surfaced in the course of their initial inquiry.
