New House member takes oath

MANILA, Philippines — A partylist lawmaker on Tuesday took his oath as a member of the House of Representatives.

Alay-Buhay Partylist Representative Weslie Gatchalian, brother of Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian, took his oath before Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. during the session attended by 169 legislators.

Belmonte said that Gatchalian is being taken in by the House of Representatives after being proclaimed by the Commission on Elections.
