The Aboitiz Foundation Inc. has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Department of Education (DepEd) in its efforts to improve the public education system in the country.
Aboitiz Foundation president Jon Ramon Aboitiz and Education Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro led the signing of agreement for the construction of school facilities for public schools, such as food and nutrition, computer and science laboratories and learning support.
During the occasion, Luistro encouraged the parents and students to also do their share in taking good care of these donations.
The agreement signing was held during the foundation’s annual “Interventions in Education” last Oct. 1 at the JCenter Mall Convention Hall in Mandaue City.
It was witnessed by the Aboitiz Group executives, DepEd and local government officials and various stakeholders.
The foundation’s response to the DepEd’s call has resulted in the construction of at least 500 classrooms, donation of thousands of armchairs, computers, library kits and laboratories and awarding of scholarships to 17,820 scholars.
This partnership, said Aboitiz Equity Ventures president and chief executive officer Erramon Aboitiz underscores the need for stakeholders “to continue working together to achieve a common goal of preparing the youth… to lead the country to progress and sustainable development.”
Jon Ramon, for his part, urged the scholars to be passionate about learning and “be prepared to face opportunities that will come your way.”
Now on its seventh year, the Interventions in Education gathered students, teachers and parents who have benefited from the foundation’s education-related projects.
Also during the event, scholars and their parents gave testimonies on how the foundation helped them to have a brighter future.
