The Mayor Mel Petracorta-led Limasawa Customs Brokerage trounced the Michael Jude D. Logarta (MJDL) Customs Brokerage, 81-74, Wednesday night to rule the 3rd Major Alfonso Abbariao Cup-2012 basketball tournament at the Benedicto College gym.
Limasawa led, 18-8 in the first quarter but MJDL responded with a, 23-19 run in the second to close the gap at, 37-31 at the half.
The final half saw several deadlocks and lead changes until pointguard Francis Palero and Taks Moral sparked Limasawa Brokers’ strong finish with crucial shots and free throws.
Palero and Moral led Limasawa with 23 and 19 points, respectively, while Baeng Medalle paced MJDL with 26 markers.
In the battle for third, 6-foot-1 Jan Mose fired a game-high 22 points to lift Green to a, 98-90 victory over Kentkyle Cuisine. Former CIT Wildcat Ramil Aniñon led Kentkyle with 18 points.
Customs Collector Ronnie Silvestre awarded the cash prizes, trophies and medals to the top performing teams and individuals right after the championship game.
Francis Palero led the individual awardees by bagging the coveted MVP honors. He is joined in the Mythical Ten by Crisanto Manulat, Israel Alin, Tata Laborte, Yuls Arevalo, Kenneth Maningo, Noel Medalle, Taks Moral, Janus Abellana and Jaymar Elloren.
