SMART Communications was recently recognized by the Iloilo City government as one its partners during Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Iloilo City Charter.
Smart, together with other private organizations, was lauded for supporting public-private partnership (PPP) programs, policies and projects that promote the welfare of Ilonggos, including the company’s blood-letting activities and its Community CARE or Campaign to Advance Relationship-building and Education program that provides free community trainings on mobile and internet communications, financial literacy and career counseling.
Iloilo City was also the pilot site of Smart’s mHealth program, SHINE or Secured Health Information Network and Exchange — a hosted electronic health information and referral system.
SHINE, which can be accessed via phone or a computer with Internet connectivity, enables doctors, nurses, and midwives to record patient encounters, easily find and retrieve patient records, remind patients and healthcare providers, facilitate referrals among facilities, and generate government required reports.
Since its launch in the Pavia Rural Health Unit (RHU) in Iloilo province in July 2011, usage of the system has steadily increased to benefit healthcare providers, health facilities and patients in various parts of the country.
