That was no sorority war, says stabbed UST coed
The female University of Sto. Tomas student who was stabbed on the Far Eastern University campus in Manila on Tuesday night said the attack had nothing to do with warring school sororities, contrary to reports.
Joan Reyes, 20, who remained confined as of Saturday at Chinese General Hospital, said she did not know her attackers and that the assault was “unprovoked.”
“I don’t even know their motive,” said the information technology student who sustained five stab wounds in the back and another in the head.
Police earlier said the incident may have been linked to an ongoing war between two rival sororities in Manila’s university belt.
Reyes said one of the five suspects even spoke to her before the attack.
“I was completely caught by surprise. I was asked why I was on the campus. I thought they were just being friendly,” she told the Inquirer.
