Vendor chased, killed

A FRUIT vendor was shot dead by two unidentified men after a brief chase in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

Police are still investigating possible motives in the killing of Manuel Dela Concepion, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the chest.

The 38-year-old victim was a resident of barangay Napo, Carcar City.

Police said Dela Concepion was aboard a Labangon-bound jeepney which was blocked by three men on a motorcycle in Katipunan Street yesterday morning.

Two backriders went to the jeepney’s rear and appeared to be looking for someone.

One of the passengers, Renato Lauronilla, also a resident of Napo, Carcar, hurriedly got off and ran.

Dela Concepcion also got off the jeepney and ran. The two men gave chase and shot him, then returned to their motorcycle and sped off toward Natalio Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City.

Paramedics from the Emergency Rescue Foundation (ERUF) tried but failed to revive the victim.
