Soon-Ruiz to remain Mandaue consultant

EVEN if she has decided to run for the congressional seat of Cebu’s 6th district Dr. Nerissa Soon-Ruiz will continue working as a consultant of the Mandaue City government.

Soon-Ruiz, a former three-term representative of the 6th district will try to regain her seat in Congress against Liberal Party’s bet, the incumbent 6th district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing.

She will be running under the One Cebu party.

Mayor Jonas Cortes and Soon-Ruiz have mended fences last July when the Mandaue City mayor enlisted the former congresswoman as City Hall consultant.

Cortes admitted he did not try to stop his mayoralty foe in 2010 from pursuing her candidacy. “I don’t want to dominate anybody, even if we are already friends”.

But when asked, whom will he support, Cortes said, “I’m a Liberal Party members, so there no doubt, I will support Quisumbing.
