A 42-YEAR-OLD farmer was killed after he was hacked and mauled by a father and son in barangay Bunga, Toledo City, southern Cebu.
Felix Hernane died on the spot with injuries in the head and body.
The suspects Leonardo “Naring” Villarin, 57, and his 33-year-old son Francisco surrendered to the police.
Police said personal grudges were the motive in the attack which occured last Tuesday afternoon, a day before Hernane and Francisco were supposed to meet in a mediation hearing at the barangay hall over a personal dispute.
Hernane was accused of destroying the wall of Francisco’s house when a drunk Hernane ran amok last Monday night.
Hernane’s 13-year-old son told police that he was inside their house when he heard his father shouting for help around 3 p.m.
The boy ran outside and saw his father being attacked by the suspects.
Police said Leonardo hacked Hernane with a bolo while Francisco struck his head thrice with a piece of wood.
Leonardo surrendered to the police shortly after the incident.
