’WANTED’ IRANIAN LEAVES CEBU

THE Iranian national accused of estafa and carnapping is no longer in Cebu, said police.

Based on records of the Bureau of Immigration, Hamid Reza Seife Pour left for Iran with his Filipina wife last Saturday, said Chief Insp Michael Bastes, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB) in Mandaue City.

A Russian-American businessman filed a complaint for estafa against Pour after the Iranian failed to pay off a P1.4 million loan.

Last Tuesday night, police recovered the Honda Jazz sedan that Pour didn’t return after a test drive last Sept. 21.

Diego Famador, owner of the car, alerted the police when the car was spotted parked outside a mall at the Mandaue reclamation area.

The car was driven by Irish national Nicknejad Hossien, 62, when it was recovered about 6 p.m. last Tuesday.

Hossien told police that the car was sold to him by Pour for P500,000.

Hossien said he paid Pour half of the amount and promised to pay the balance when the deed of sale was given to him.

NORWEGIAN-DRIVEN BIKE HITS MAN

A 52-YEAR-OLD man was hit by a motorcycle driven by a Norwegian national in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Avelino Presillas, 52, was treated for body injuries in a hospital in Cebu City.

The motorcycle driver, Erland Dalen, 52, was arrested by police after the incident.

Police said Presillas was crossing A.C. Cortes Street when he was hit by the motorcycle past 11 p.m. last Tuesday.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries could be filed against the foreigner./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS

MAN WITH SHABU ARRESTED

PACKS of suspected shabu were recovered from a man who was arrested after evading a checkpoint in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Irefred Amaya Caballero, 29, yielded seven packs of suspected shabu.

Police said Caballero was driving a motorcycle when he was flagged down by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team during a checkpoint in V. Rama Avenue last Tuesday dawn.

Caballero ignored the policemen and sped off.

A chase followed until Caballero was cornered near the San Roque chapel in Guadalupe.

Police sensed that Caballero was hiding something in his left pocket.
