NegOr’s Limkaichong, Macias file COCs

Members of the Liberal Party in Negros Oriental were the first to file their Certificates of Candidacy (COC) at the Provincial Comelec office in Negros Oriental Monday morning.

Rep. Jocelyn Limkaichiong came in with her running mate Dr. Edward Mark Macias and their supporters.

Limkaichiong, a first- term lawmaker, decided to run for governor after President Aquino asked her to lead the LP in Negros Oriental.

“It was the chairman of LP, President Noynoy Aquino who asked me if I can lead the province by running for governor. I can’t say no especially that LP’s intention is for the betterment of the province. I am happy to be able to serve Negros Oriental,” said Limkaichiong.

Limkaichiong wore tangerine t-shirt, instead of LP’s yellow color.

“Tangerine is the lucky color of the year. I also wore a pin of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo because I believe in his leadership. I’m for good governance,” said Limkaichiong.

Her running mate, Dr. Macias, also wore a checkered polo in tangerine and blue. Macias is a newbie in politics. He is the son of former Negros Oriental governor, Emilio Macias III who was not able to finish his second term after succumbing to an illness in 2010.

“She believes in me and I cannot refuse an offer, which is to better serve the public. I am new in politics but I do believe that it is in my blood. My father is a good example and I will continue his good work said Macias.

Other LP candidates who filed their COCs were Agustin Miguel Perdices, son of former Negros Oriental vice governor, Agustin Perdices. Perdices runs for Provincial Board Member for the 2nd District. Another PB member candidate is Clyde Lim for the 3rd District. /correspondent Carine M. Asutilla
