MANILA, Philippines — The fire that broke out at the office of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.  in the Senate Wednesday morning is under control, an employee said.

Elvie Liwanag from the office of Senator Ralph Recto told INQUIRER.net earlier in the day that smoke was seen coming out of Revilla’s office, room 506, at around 8 a.m.

“The left wing corridor of 5th floor is filled with smoke right now,” said Liwanag who, prior to the interview, posted the incident on her Facebook account.

Senate security, she said, immediately responded to the scene and forcibly opened Revilla’s office.

No one was inside the office when the incident took place, Liwanag added.
