16 workers hurt in road accident
Sixteen workers of a telecommunications company were injured after the pick-up vehicle they rode fell on its side at the Mandaue City reclamation area.
Police said the driver of the Toyota pick-up, Juvenile Sasaluya, 24, a native of Makati, failed to present a driver’s license during the accident which happened at Ouano Avenue last Monday night.
Sasaluya was detained at the Subangdaku police station and will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injuries and driving without license.
Twelve of the wounded persons have been released from the hospital. Still confined at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center were Dennis Misagon, 28; Dennis Sandagon, 39; Dindo Betarga, 29; and Nonilo Yamson, 34.
The wounded persons were workers of GTSI Telecommunications Company, subcontractor of Globelines.
Salaluya said it was his first time to drive in Cebu. He said he was driving at a speed of about 80 kilometers per hour when he lost control of the wheel while trying to overtake a trailer van. The pick-up car rammed the center island before it fell on its side.

The assigned driver was Jerry Conge, 24, but Salaluya asked him to let him drive on their way to Looc./CORRESPONDENT JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
