Refuting fears that boxing fans will no longer be excited over a fourth fight between Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez, Top Rank Promotions announced that over 13,000 tickets have been lapped up by boxing fans for the opening weekend making the fourth chapter of their historic rivalry the biggest seller of the series.
“We are ecstatic with the response,” Promoter Bob Arum announced on their website toprank.com.
Promoted by Top Rank in association with MP Promotions, Zanfer Promotions, Márquez Boxing, Tecate and MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, tickets to Pacquiao-Márquez 4 are priced at $1,200, $900, $600, $400, and $200.
The first three fights between Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KOs) and Márquez (54-6-1 (39 KOs) have all gone the full twelve rounds and all three ended with debatable decisions.
Officially, Pacquiao has a two win, one draw record against Marquez but the Mexican has declared time and time again that he won all three fights. They will engage in another 12-round welterweight battle on Dec. 8, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao has filed his certificate of candidacy yesterday for his re-election bid as congressman for Sarangani’s lone congressional district while his wife Jinkee has filed her COC as a vice-gubernatorial candidate in the same province.
