MANILA, Philippines – Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Grace Poe Llamanzares filed her certificate of candidacy for senator at the Comelec main office Tuesday.
Llamanzares, daughter of the late Fernando Poe Jr., is a guest candidate of both the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) and the administration coalition.
Llamanzares’ mother, television actress Susan Roces, accompanied her.
When asked by reporters about how she would go about with her campaign since she was a common candidate, Llamanzares said “may patakaran kasi ang coalition ng administrasyon…nandoon ako.”
The administration coalition had said that they would not want their guest candidates to campaign with UNA.
Binay, in reaction, called on the guest candidates to exercise fair judgement, saying what would be given to LP should also be given to UNA.
Llamanzares explained that she had consulted with UNA leaders Vice President Jejomar Binay and former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada and that the two gave her clearance with her campaigns.
“Kahit anong gawin ko sa kampanya, i-adopt ka namin,” Llamanzares said, referring to the talks she had with Binay and Estrada.
Llamanzares said that she had high respects for President Benigno Aquino III, who appointed her as MTRCB chairperson.
When pressed by reporters if she would campaign with UNA, she said “I don’t think so.”
“Yung sa UNA hindi naman kailangang sumama sa entablado,” she said.
She added that she did not know the arrangements with the other common candidates of the two rival parties.
Llamanzares also said she would try her best to continue the reforms that her father would have wanted to make, especially the programs for the poor and the children.
Roces, for her part, said that she would be supporting her daughter all throughout the campaign period.
Meanwhile, Llamanzares mentioned that there were two nominees for the MTRCB chairmanship.
She gave no other details except that “may kinaliman sila sa showbiz.”
