Talk ‘N Text handily defeated Alaska, 101-75, in their elimination round encounter with coaches Chot Reyes and Tim Cone both predicting a different outcome in their second meeting.
The Aces went into the semis winning their last three games, while the Texters experienced a mini slump at the tail-end of the eliminations.
But after a close first half that even saw Alaska posting several eight-point leads, the Texters again imposed their supremacy on the Aces behind a searing third quarter assault.
Talk ‘N Text used a torrid three-point shooting to overwhelm Alaska, finishing with a total 16 three-pointers to tally their seventh win in nine games that tightened its hold of the solo lead.
The Texters trailed at the end of the first period, 27-28, before zooming ahead at the half, 53-44.
Talk ‘N Text pulled away for good in the third, where they dropped five triples.
Larry Fonacier typified Talk ‘N Text’s impreccable three-point shooting, drilling in a triple while being fouled by LA Tenorio. Fonacier made the bonus freethrow that gave the Texters a whopping 83-59 lead. He finished a team-high 21 points.
