Top-seeded Talk ‘N Text starts semifinal round with huge 103-85 rout over Alaska Aces
The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters showed they can handle the Alaska Aces anytime—and with ease.
The Texters had no trouble scoring another blowout win against the Aces, posting a 103-85 victory for a rousing start in the semifinal round of the 36th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Talk ‘N Text handily defeated Alaska, 101-75, in their elimination round encounter with coaches Chot Reyes and Tim Cone both predicting a different outcome in their second meeting.
The Aces went into the semis winning their last three games, while the Texters experienced a mini slump at the tail-end of the eliminations.
But after a close first half that even saw Alaska posting several eight-point leads, the Texters again imposed their supremacy on the Aces behind a searing third quarter assault.
Talk ‘N Text used a torrid three-point shooting to overwhelm Alaska, finishing with a total 16 three-pointers to tally their seventh win in nine games that tightened its hold of the solo lead.

Larry Fonacier typified Talk ‘N Text’s impreccable three-point shooting, drilling in a triple while being fouled by LA Tenorio. Fonacier made the bonus freethrow that gave the Texters a whopping 83-59 lead. He finished a team-high 21 points.
