Canete posts tourney-high 69 pts to lead Jenjic to win in Power 40
A RED-HOT Joel Canete scored a tournament-high 69 points to power JENJIC Commando to a, 163-129 demolition of Ang Tibay Mo at the start of the Power Forty Christmas basketball tournament at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym.
Jenjic Commando led from start to finish and posted the game’s biggest lead of 42 points, 90-48, at the half.
Four of Canete’s teammates also had double figures including his brother Jun with 35, Sam Atillo with 20, Zaldy Dumale with 16 and Kaka Cabatas with 10.
Cecil Cabaluna paced Ang Tibay Mo with 49 points.
Highlighting the opening day was the battle among former grandslam winner Utassco Insurance against the Talisay Basketball Association (TBA) selection.
Utassco led by single-digit in the first two periods, then pulled away with a blistering 30-15 rally in the 3rd period behind the 3-point artists Flor Yosores and Wewe Cabrera for a commanding 19-point lead, 81-62, going to the fourth.
