MANILA, Philippines—A new low pressure area (LPA) being monitored by the weather bureau has moved closer to the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecasters said that from its “quasi-stationary” state, as of 2 p.m. Monday, the LPA was spotted 530 kilometers west of Luzon.
Weather forecaster Jori Loiz told the Inquirer that while the monsoon trough, in effect over Luzon, has been bringing rains over the region, the LPA is seen not to have any effect until after it enters the PAR, during which it shall be called “Marce.”
He observed that since Monday morning, the LPA had started slowly moving in a northeasterly direction. He said the LPA could be within the PAR between Tuesday and Wednesday.
