Landslide sweeps vehicles off Nepal highway; 4 die

KATMANDU – A landslide has swept several vehicles off a mountain highway, killing four people while nine others have been reported missing,  an official here said.

Government administrator Purushottam Ghimire said the landslide Sunday night swept away five vehicles traveling on the Mechi highway near Kilbung village in eastern Nepal.

He says eight people have been rescued, four bodies have been pulled out and people remain missing.

Details were still sketchy Monday morning but rescue teams have reached the area.
