UE bags AUBC crown

THE UNIVERSITY of the East Red Warriors toppled the Olivarez College, 76-72, to take home the championship in the Cobra Energy Drink – 9th Asian University Basketball Championship yesterday at the Trinity University of Asia gym in Quezon City.

UE trailed by six points at the halfway point of the third but stepped up their game to take an 11-point lead in the fourth period en route to completing a clean 5-0 (win-loss) sweep of the tournament.

Indonesia’ Hangtuah (3–2) copped third place with an 83-51 rout of winless Universiti Teknologi MARI of Malaysia (0-5), while De La Salle University of Dasmarinas (2-3), downed host Trinity University of Asia (1-4) to rank fourth./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
