CAGAYAN DE ORO City, Philippines—A 63-year-old man was shot dead by still unidentified assailants in Barangay (village) Agusan in Cagayan de Oro Sunday noon.

Inspector Kinthur Tandog of the police’s Scene of Crime Operatives (SOCO) identified the victim as Romeo Domingo, a retired member of the Philippine Constabulary.

Witnesses said Domingo, a resident of Agusan, was on his way to his brother’s house in the same village when two motorcycle-riding men shot him.

Tandog said they had recovered seven empty shells of a .45-cal. pistol from the crime scene.

Hector Domingo, the victim’s brother, said they did not know why his brother was killed.

“He retired long ago, so this is not in any way connected with his work as a PC (Philippine Constabulary man),” Hector said.
