Cebu mayor to run under UNA

MANILA, Philippines –  Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama,  a member of the  Liberal Party,  will run  under the United  Alliance  (UNA),   Vice President  Jejomar Binay’s  spokesman said on  Sunday.

“Cebu Mayor Michael Rama will run (under) UNA,”   said Joey Salgado in a text message.

UNA is a new coalition formed between Binay’s PDP-Laban and  former President Joseph Estrada’s Puwersa ng  Masang  Pilipino.

Salgado said Binay personally invited Rama when they met in a wedding in Cebu  Saturday night to run under the coalition  and the latter accepted it.

Despite this, Salgado said Rama will remain with LP being  headed by  President Benigno Aquino  III.

“He (Rama) won’t  leave LP for now,”  the spokesman added.

The LP  has reportedly chosen Cebu Representative  Tomas Osmena over Rama  in the  mayoralty race  in the  province.
