WOMAN SHOT IN MAMBALING
A WOMAN was critically wounded after she was shot in the head by an unidentified assailant in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, last Thursday night.
Police are still investigating possible motives in the shooting of Ma. Paz Antopina Matas, 58.
The victim was still being treated at the Cebu City Medical Center as of press time
Police said the woman is a member of the Christian Women’s League.
Police said Matas was talking to her cousin along a road when a man arrived asking for the whereabouts of Rhea Monleon, a resident in the area.
The man was about to leave when he drew a gun and shot Matas.

GUARD SHOT, HURT
A 29-YEAR-OLD security guard was shot and wounded while he was driving to work in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City.
Jenylan Atil, a security guard detailed in a Cebu City hotel, was wounded in the lower right arm.
Police said he was driving a motorcycle in a dark area last Thursday night when two men waylaid him.
Atil said he stopped the motorcycle when he saw his arm bleeding.
He left the motorcycle and ran to the main road where he sought help from bystanders.
The victim was brought to a hospital. Police rushed to the area but the assailants was no longer there.
