THE defending champion Bandidos will try to avoid a major upset when they battle Fastball in the curtain raiser of today’s Cebu Slow-Pitch Softball League at the Aboitiz Sports Field.
Some 12 teams are vying in this weekend’s event organized by Fastball Sports Venture’s Jess Bernad. Expect a tough battle in the Bandidos-Fastball premier division encounter as both teams are fielding their original line-up.
The Swingers and Master Batters take to the field after the opening game in the co-ed division.
After the first two games, the formal opening of the tournament will be held to be followed by matches pitting Flamingos against Enerzone in the premiere category on diamond one and the co-ed encounter between the Pirates against Veco on diamond two.
The match between Fastball-Aztecs and the Knights will then follow on diamond one to be followed by the game between San Remegio against OutKast on diamond two all in the co-ed category.
The tournament aims to foster camaraderie among competing teams and to revive interest in softball here in Cebu. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
