STL worker shot dead

BATANGAS-A small town lottery (STL) employee died while his coworker was injured when two unidentified gunmen shot them in Lipa City on Tuesday.

Lipa City police chief Supt. Christopher Birung said Mel Mendoza and Liwenlindo Vergara were walking on their way home around 9 p.m. Tuesday, on H. Latorre Street when the gunmen on board a motorcycle shot them.

Mendoza suffered a bullet wound in the head and was dead on the spot while Vergara suffered two bullet wounds in the right arm and was rushed to the San Antonio Medical Treatment in Lipa City for treatment.

The gunmen escaped on board their motorcycle.

Birung said Vergara traded shots with the gunmen but could not say whether the suspects had been hit. There was no clear motive for the killing yet. Marrah Erika Lesaba, Inquirer Southern Luzon
