VIRGILIO “Maton” Silvano of the Omega Boxing Gym of Mabolo, Cebu City will defend his Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) light flyweight crown against Lester Jun Prongco of the Sajulga Stable of Davao on Oct. 6 at the Dalaguete Sports Complex in Dalaguete, Cebu.
The 22-year-old Silvano (17W-2L-1D, 12 KOs) captured his title last July with a fourth round TKO win over Charlie Cabilla at the J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.
Silvano is on an 11-fight winning streak and has won his last five bouts via the short route.
Prongco (3W-3L, 2 KOs) on the other hand, sports the ring moniker “Silent Penetrator.” Last May, he beat Gilbert Magos of the RWS Gym by unanimous decision in San Fernando, Cebu.
The supporting main event will feature another Omega gym prospect, Jason Canoy who will trade punches with the tough and experienced Jetli Purisima of Gen. Santos City.
Canoy (15W-3L-1D, 10 KOs) stopped Ryan Bongcawil in nine rounds at the J Centre Mall last July. Purisima (15W-12L-2D, 3 KOs), meanwhile, has lost to the likes of current OPBF minimumweight champ Merlito Sabillo and former WBO Oriental minimumweight champion Rommel Asenjo.
Also set to see action are Jahleel Payao vs. Mating Kilakil (8 rounds), Ernie Sanchez vs. Eman Labanza (8 rounds), Jack “Golden Boy” Tepora vs. Rommel Banquirigo (6 rounds), Charly Pucdol vs. Ryan Quimbo (6 rounds), Jordan Catubay vs. Juvel Gayhun (6 rounds) and Jay Molijon vs. Sherwin Boquecosa (4 rounds).
The fights will be supervised by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) of Cebu.
