CEBU CITY, Philippines–There will be no new designer bags and jewelry for celebrity talent manager Anabelle Rama if she wins the congressional seat of Cebu City’s north district.
The showbiz cousin of Mayor Michael Rama on Wednesday promised this in a press conference where she announced that she joined Partido ng Masang Pilipino last Monday.
Barangay Lahug Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos joined her in the party oath-taking before former president Joseph Estrada in San Juan, Metro Manila.
She said close friends like Laarni Enriquez and Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung advised her to invite Mayor Rama to join PMP but she held back because “Mike knows what he is doing.”
Mayor Rama, a member of the administration Liberal Party (LP) has been in quandary over reports that the administration party is endorsing his rival Rep. Tomas Osmeña of the south district for the mayoralty post instead of him.
“For me, my problem is already solved. I already have a party,” Anabelle said.
Whatever political party Mayor Rama decides to join later will not be a problem, she said, since she is Team Rama member in Cebu City politics.
Sacrifice
Aside from sacrificing her taste for expensive bags and jewelry, Anabelle said that if she wins, she will spend her income as a lawmaker and half of her earnings as a talent manager of 25 celebrities to be shared among the 46 north district barangays.
“I want to pay back the masses who have placed Richard, Eddie, my talents and Ruffa where they are now,” Anabelle said.
Her opponent in the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan will be either incumbent Rep. Rachel del Mar or her father Raul.
