STC communicators win Campus Patrol
The third year communicators of Saint Theresa’s College (STC) won two out of three awards during ABS-CBN’s broadcasting contest for communication students.
Campus Patrol, now on its seventh year, was held last Aug. 24 at the Cebu Normal University (CNU).
The STC Theresian Communicators’ Organization news team garnered the News Anchor of the Year and News Coverage of the Year awards, besting six other news teams.
“We just had to practice, practice, practice, be open to criticisms, changes and to have the strong desire to win,” said Donna Lavares, Campus Patrol 2012 Anchor of the Year.
The CNU, on its third consecutive year, won the news reporter of the year for their investigative journalism entry about quarrying in a mountainous barangay.
This year, the organizers spiced up the contest’s mechanics, giving birth to “Campus Patrol: The News Coverage.”

The students reported the same thing over and over again. This year’s new mechanics gave variety,” said Annie Fe Perez, Cebu Alliance of Mass Communication (CAMS) president.
