THE LA SALLE Green Archers came all the way back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth period to stun the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 69-66, and take the last ticket to the Final Four in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The win enabled the Archers to forge yet another showdown with their blood rivals Ateneo Blue Eagles, who they will face in the Final Four. The Eagles will have a twice-to-beat advantage in their matchup that starts this weekend.
La Salle trailed, 50-60, before they went on a sizzling 19-6 run that was capped off by Norbert Torres whose three-point play pushed the Archers ahead.
Almond Vosotros hit a three-pointer that got them within one, 59-60, when Torres took over with five straight points. He finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
FEU was within one, 66-67, after three pointers by Terrence Romeo and RR Garcia but the Tamaraws’ final possession wound up with a traveling violation that was called on Mike Tolomia with 3.5 seconds remaining.
Jeron Teng finished with 15 points for the Archers. Romeo led FEU with 13 points while Mark Bringas added 12.
