Cebu businessman killed in Mandaue

CEBU CITY, Philippines—Businessman Antonio Ouano, who owned the Ouano Wharf in Mandaue City, was shot and killed in an ambush Friday.

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of the Mandaue City Police Office, said Ouano, 69, was driving his sports utility vehicle from a mediation hearing at the Palace of Justice in Mandaue City on his way home when he was ambushed by a motorcycle-riding man at Mantawi Drive in  Barangay Guizo at 2:17 p.m.

Ouano sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mandaue City District hospital at past 3 p.m., Gillamac said.

Gillamac said he has created Task Force Ouano headed by his operations officer Supt. James Goforth to track down the culprit.

Gillamac said all angles were being pursued, including the business angle.

Ouano was a cousin of former Mandaue Mayor Alfredo Ouano.

His family owned the Ouano Wharf as well as the lot where the Gaisano Countrymall was erected in Banilad.
