Paralyzed teen needs your help

Marcos de la Cruz, 15, was about to go to bed when he complained of a stomach ache.

After his father gave him a 15-minute massage, the teenager said the pain had shifted to his head. Later, he felt a numbing pain in his lower extremities that later went up to his chest.

Erwin de la Cruz, Marcos’ dad said his son is suffering from Guillam Barry Syndrome, a rare medical condition that affects the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, leading to paralysis.

Marcos, now paralyzed, is confined at Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City. “Marcos’ hospital bills amount to   P100,000,” said his father.

Much as they want to transfer their patient to another hospital for a possible second opinion, doctors have not done so because of the risks.

Dela Cruz is appealing to Inquirer readers for help so he can buy P56,000 worth of IVIG medicine  good for one week.

Readers can reach Dela Cruz at 09272205259. Deposits can be made to his sister-in-law Jovilyn dela Cruz’s bank account at Security Bank, Tagaytay branch, account number 081160308220.
