Ruffy Biazon drops Senate bid

MANILA, Philippines—Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon has decided to stick to his present job at the Bureau of Customs instead of running for the Senate in the May 2013 elections.

Biazon told a news conference that he arrived at this decision after consulting the President, who told him he could better serve the public at the bureau.

Biazon took potshots at his critics,  especially those who call him a “castrated commissioner” and “weakling,” and asked rumormongers and influence peddlers in the bureau to stop the political attacks.
