Zaldy Ampatuan’s convoy in Camp Bagong Diwa but no sight of ARMM gov
MANILA, Philippines – The convoy of Zaldy Ampatuan, the suspended governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, arrived at Camp bagong Diwa in Taguig City Friday.
Ampatuan himself, however, could not be seen due to the tight security.
Ampatuan’s convoy arrived at 1:30 p.m., from the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City where Ampatuan, a principal suspect in the Maguindanao massacre in 2009, was confined for a day due to hypertension and diabetes.
Ampatuan has been imprisoned at Camp Bagong Diwa since his arrest for the alleged murders of 57 people, including 32 journalists, but his failing health prompted him to petition the Quezon City court trying his case to allow him to go to a hospital for treatment.
Although the court failed to issue a ruling, Ampatuan, nonetheless, spent a day at the PHC, raising a howl from families of the victims.
Ampatuan’s petition for an extension of his stay at the PHC was denied by the same court.
