Jeepney dispatcher shot

A 38-year-old jeepney dispatcher was critically wounded after he was shot by an unidentified assailant in barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Ian Fajardo sustained gunshot wounds in the back of the head, right palm and in the back.

Two other persons were wounded after they were hit by stray bullets.

Police said Fajardo was calling for passengers shortly before noon yesterday when a man arrived.

Witnesses described the man as a decent-looking person who wore a checkered polo shirt.

Police said a five-year-old boy heard Fajarado telling the man “dili ako, dili ako sir” before he was shot several times.

The boy said the assailant picked up some empty shells and live bullets from the gun before he fled on a motorcycle driven by another man.

A habal-habal driver and a 35-year-old man were hit by stray bullets.

Fajardo was brought to the Eversley Hospital in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

No clear motive was established yet for the attack, said police./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
