ROXAS CITY, Philippines—Four persons died while another was injured when a Mitsubishi L300 van rammed a motorcycle in Pilar, Capiz, at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Senior Inspector Errol Quatche, Pilar police chief, identified the fatalities as Rudy Villa, 27; his wife Ronilyn, 27; the couple’s two-month-old daughter Robelyn; and mother-in-law Nelly Baclas. All four were on the motorcyle.
The driver of the van, Rafil Dador of Balasan, Iloilo, was injured.
In a text message to the Inquirer, Quatche said Dador lost control of the L300 van he was driving, which then collided with the motorcycle driven by Villa. The van then hit a cargo truck parked on the national highway in Sitio Libas, Barangay San Esteban, he added.
The victims were taken to the nearby Malbog District Hospital in the neighboring town of Balasan in Iloilo where Ronilyn, Robelyn and Baclas were declared dead upon arrival. Villa was later transferred to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City but was also declared dead upon arrival.
Dador was confined at the Balasan hospital.
